It's the transgender flag! 🏳⚧
Hey everyone! As you may have seen from the title, some massive changes are coming to the creator and owner of SeveredData. This stuff is pretty important, as it will in some way affect my channels and socials. I know I may get a lot of hate from this, but I'm officially transgender. Here are some Q&A about this whole situation, the social transition, why I'm doing this, and what happens next.
Q: What is your preferred name and pronouns?
A: My preferred name is Emma and my preferred pronouns are she/her.
Q: Why are you doing this? What is the point?
A: The reason is that I found my true self and identity; who I truly am. You may be asking, "But SeveredData, you didn't seem to have a problem about your gender in the past!" The reality is, that I've never really felt comfortable in my assigned gender (yes, I have been masking it this whole time). That statement is truer than ever, as in more recent years, I have felt and identified more as a female than a male.
Q: When did you come out? Why did you decide that time?
A: I came out to my parents and immediate family around mid-October of last year. That was mid-March this year for my friends, teachers, and the SeveredData community. I came out when I felt the time was right and finally told others who I truly am. However, I didn't come out until I did because I was scared of how others would react and the possible hate I would receive for doing such a thing.
Q: What does this mean for the SeveredData ecosystem?
A: Nothing too massive will happen, although you may notice my voice getting softer and my appearance looking more feminine in the coming months and years.
Q: When are the changes taking effect?
A: Some of the changes will take effect immediately, like the preferred name and pronouns, but others may take more time. After I graduate high school this June, I will start taking hormones and begin feminizing my body. I will be going in-depth about being transgender in my upcoming video "My Plans For The Future…" coming this June.
Q: I don't like this change. What should I do?
A: Just remember that you don't have to watch or play any of my content or go on my socials if you don't want to. But, please do not spread hate toward the SeveredData, LGBTQ+, or transgender communities. If you do, you will be blocked.
In conclusion, I'm officially transgender (my preferred name is Emma and my preferred pronouns are she/her) and this will lead to changes not just for myself as a person, but also for the SeveredData community. I'm excited to finally reveal and be my true self. I will not tolerate hate, as my community is an LGBTQ+ and trans-inclusive safe zone and I'll block people who violate that.
